Our breeding

Every Bushlilly plant starts here. We choose parent plants for their flower colour, shape and leaf quality, pollinate them by hand, and grow the seedlings on until they show what they're made of.

Clivias

Clivias take patience. From seed, a Clivia miniata usually needs three to five years to flower. We sow fresh seed each year and grow the seedlings on in shade, selecting the strongest plants as they mature. Our work focuses on clear colours, from classic orange to pastels and yellows, broad petals and full, rounded flower heads.

Cycads

Cycads are some of the oldest seed plants on earth, and many species are threatened in the wild. We grow ours from nursery seed, never from plants collected in the wild. It's slow work: a cycad can take many years to reach a good size, which is why every nursery-bred plant matters.
